INTERVIEW DAY!

WOW! Today is Thursday and I am so sorry that I have not been keeping up with my blogs! I have been adding pictures to my website and facebook though!

Today was interview!!!! I feel REALLY good about mine! I spoke confidently and intelligently! :) (I just hope that I didn't think it was good and the judges not!) Kristyn had her interview yesterday morning! She was very pleased with hers as well!

This week has been full of FUN! On Tuesday, we went to the Chicago Boy's and Girl's Club. It was so touching to see all of the children falling in love with all of us girls! They were all having competitions to see who get get the most of our autographs! The director of the Boy's and Girl's Club had told us that some of the children in the Club having unfortunate lifestyles at home and the photo's/autograph pages that we gave them is more than likely the only thing that they can call "theirs." It was very touching. After the Boy's and Girl's Club, all of the contestants went to the Navy Pier! At the Pier, we had the privilege to ride on a Speed Boat! Talk about fun!!!! The boat went up to 80 MPH!!!!!!! Of course we all were drenched when it was over, but we had a great time!

Yesterday, we went to the Chicago Library! It was fasinating! It was one of the biggest libraries in the U.S.! It consisted of 3 floors and had everything you could imagine. It had every book, current magazine, current newspaper, current movies and cds, and a book store with coffee! The most amazing think to me about the library was the current newspapers. The library has the current newspapers for other countries such as Japan, China, England, Australia......! AMAZING!

Last night we had rehearsals which seemed like FOREVERRRRR!!!!! But we are all bonding and having a great time!

Interview was this morning for me and followed by rehearsals! I just got ready and I am waiting for 7:30 to get here to watch Kristyn in the Miss Teen International Prelims! She is going to be AMAZINNNNGGG!!!

Tomorrow is a full 8 hours of REHEARSAL! :(
But, I have PRELIMS TOMORROW NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY! I am so excited!

I have made so many great friends while being here! But, the one girl that I have bonded to at the hip haha, is Miss Alabama! Ashley is gorgeous, sweet and just perfect! Well besides the fact that she goes to AUBURN! GROSS I KNOW! hehe! But I am so excited because Auburn comes to Fayetteville this year and since she is a Senior, she is going to go to all away games! She is going to come and stay with me during that weekend! I am so excited!!!!!!!

Well I must go for now, but I will let everyone know how Kristyn does tonight!!!

Day of Shopping and FUN!

Today, Kristyn and I had a great day of shopping and fun! We started the day going to CHINA TOWN!!!!....but it was all closed :(.....but we are going to go back in the morning. We ate lunch at Maggiano's Italian Restaurant! It was FABULOUS! After lunch, we headed to BLOOMINGDALES!!!!!!!! We fell in love with that store! Kristyn and I had so much fun trying on dresses and being silly! After Bloomingdales, we shopped around the mall for a few hours before having dinner with our director, Bernee. One of Bernee's favorite places to eat is The Cheesecake Factory, so we ate at the factory! It was so YUMMY! We had a great time!

During the day, we met more great and GORGEOUS contestants. We met New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia! They were all sweet girls!

Tomorrow is ORIENTATION! Kristyn and I are so excited about finally meeting all of the contestants. During orientation, we will get our contestant numbers! In years past, the contestants have to go to the front of the room and introduce themselves and tell a fun fact about themselves! I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS PART! I am bringing my BFF: my bottle of Tabasco Sauce! :) I know that by the end of the week, I will inquire the name "Hot Sauce Girl."
Kristyn is going to tell them about her talent, ventriloquist! She is very excited as well.

During the actual pageant, We each have to introduce ourselves in the microphone to the audience both nights. You start out by saying something like---
"From the state where.......I am Miss Arkansas International, Tressa Horton."
Well Kristyn and I have had a little fun with coming up with great phrases today! Here are our "possible introductions!"

We had a little fun with our "Possible Introductions." But in the end, we came up with very classy statements about our WONDERFUL state! :)


Kristyn and I are really looking forward to orientation tomorrow and getting to interact with all of the contestants. We found a quote that we are going to live tomorrow by....

We are in CHICAGO!!!!

Kristyn and I made it to Chicago today! We are having so much fun!!! Our mommies dropped us off at the airport and we went on our way! The flight was very nice and FAST! When we arrived at the Chicago airport, we were unaware that the baggage claim was about a 5 mile walk from our gate (or it seemed like it!). We made it though in our heels! We arrived at the hotel and we were greeted by Eddie Petterson (Miss California Director and one of our judges at Miss Arkansas this year) and Miss California International! She is a very sweet girl! Kristyn and I unpacked and freshened up for Mrs. International Finals! Robin looked GORGEOUS! We are so proud of her! We are also proud of Karen Bartosh for being in the TOP 5!

Tomorrow Kristyn and I are going to "China Town"! We are very excited! Tomorrow night we are planning on going out to dinner with some of the contestants! Everyone is so sweet and friendly! We are having a great time and we have only been here for 9 hours!!!!! :)

Leaving Today!

Today I will be leaving from Marshall and going to Hot Springs for the 3rd night of Preliminaries to Miss Arkansas-America! I am so excited to see old friends and meet new friends! Tomorrow is the day that I leave for Chicago though. As I sit and listen to Frank Sinatra, I feel really good about next week. I have to admit that at the beginning of the week I was quite nervous but I am very calm now. I know that I have prepared to the best that I can.

So I was thinking last night what I was going to write in my blog today. I closed my eyes and invisioned myself in the movie "You've Got Mail" and I am of course Meg Ryan. I think it's the Frank Sinatra doing this to me! haha! This blogging thing really makes me feel like I live in New York City and I am an editor for a very prestigue magazine or newspaper and I am writing to everyone in NYC and everyone can not wait to read what I have say. But then REALITY checks in and HELLLOOOO TRESSA.....you are in Marshall, Arkansas with maybe 5 people reading your blog!!!!!! But I guess its good to dream! :)

So I have done something that has embarrassed me BADD!!!!!!!! And as everyone should know, IT TAKES A LOT TO GET ME EMBARRASSED! So I have been adding the Miss International contestants everyday to facebook and writing on their walls about how excited I am to meet them. Well I have written on about 10 girl's walls. Usually the same thing..."Hello. I am looking FOWARD to meeting you next week!" Have you caught on to why I am embarrassed yet??
I can not spell! When you are adding these contestants that you will be competing against, YOU WANT TO LOOK GOOD! You secretly want each one to think you are awesome and that you intimidate the others! But I ruined that one!!!!! I am sure each contestant is thinking...."Well we don't have to worry about Arkansas. She can't spell." But the lesson that I learned was that I know know that FORWARD has an R in the middle of it! WOW TRESSA!

I hope that everyone has a great day! Listen to a Frank Sinatra song to really calm yourself and you can have a 3 minute breather! :)

Getting ready for Miss International!

I decided to start this blog since many of my friends have one and because I can update family and friends on what is going on in my life. As many of you know, I am Miss Arkansas International and I am getting ready to leave on Saturday, July 18th, to go to Chicago for Miss International. I am looking foward to making great friends and memories that I will cherish forever. I have started on facebook, adding and chatting with contestants! They all seem so sweet and GORGEOUS! I have to admit that I am intimidated by many! But I do think that I will have so much in common with so many girls!

I finally got intouch with GODADDY.COM because my website, www.tressahorton.org, was not working. They fixed it for me, a week before I leave so that no one has seen it, but at least it is out there so that many can see what my platform is, Childhood Obesity, and how it can help everyone. There are also many photo albulms for everyone to see! I will be updating my website with pictures throughout the week next week for everyone to see.

Today is the packing day!!!!! FUN FUN FUN! Of course, I will have the help of my great mother. She seems to know how to do everything. :) My wonderful director drove to Chicago this past weekend and took my competition clothing with her. SHE IS A LIFE SAVER! As of right now, I have 3 very large suitcases and I AM STILL NOT FINISHED!!!!

Tomorrow morning, my Mother and I are going to Little Rock to stay the night with my grandmother but I will be traveling to HOT SPRINGS tomorrow night for the last Preliminary night for Miss Arkansas-America! I have so many friends competing for the title! Of course I am very excted to be cheering my favorites on to the crown!

Saturday morning, my Teen, Kristyn Baker and I will be leaving for Chicago at 12:45! When we arrive in Chicago, we will get ready and go to the Mrs. International finals night to cheer on our Mrs. Arkansas International Robin Moore! We are so proud of Robin! We know that she will do amazing! I am awaiting a phone call from Robin or my director Bernee for the thumbs up from Robin's interview! Of course I already know that it was AMAZING! Robin is incredible!

I will be updating my blog every day and posting pictures for everyone to keep in touch with how Nationals is going!
